High Adventure 2000
Backpacking/Caving -- Central PA

Every spring, Troop 380 does a real adventure trip to the wilderness. This is high adventure without a net!

This year, we had two trips in one: Most of the troop did a tough, 2-day backpacking trip on the (very steep!) Mid-State Trail in Central Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, our Venture Patrol (made up of scouts 14 and older who have achieved the rank of Star) headed underground for a serious encounter with the caves of Center County.

We all spent friday night together in our "base camp" -- Pioneer Cabin at the beautiful 7 Mountains Scout Camp. The cabin is right next to a pretty little lake. Here are some shots:

Steve and Brian are ready to hit the trail.

This is real luxury compared to what's to come!

Everybody's a navigator!

Saturday morning, the cavers drove the hikers to the trail head at nearby Penn Roosevelt State Park.
If all goes well, we'll all meet again on top of a mountain on Sunday afternoon.

Good luck, guys.  Hope we can find each other tomorrow!
